Bayview Foundation supports several classes of students through the “I Have a Dream” Program. To encourage these Dreamers to attend college after graduation, employees from the Bayview family of companies and other Bayview Foundation volunteers escort the Dreamers on college tours.
The college tours give our Dreamers the opportunity to visit colleges throughout Florida. They participate in guided campus tours to learn more about the schools and academics offered. The campus tours give them a firsthand look at colleges and life on campus. They tour top public colleges in Florida including Florida State University, University of Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, University of South Florida, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, University of Central Florida, and Florida Atlantic University.
The Dreamers go on these college tours from 8th through 10th grade. During the tours, Dreamers are able to get more information on each school’s academics, acceptance requirements, housing, dining and campus life. Volunteers take this time to emphasize the importance of keeping a balance between classes, work, and college life, and a variety of other college and life-related topics.
The college tours help the Dreamers set goals in school and plan for the future. Participating students come away from the experience with a clearer idea about what they need to do in order to be accepted to the college of their choice.
